Jewish Quarter, Paris France

Hello All,

I was in Paris from Sept 23-29th. I had a wonderful time.

This picture was taken in the Jewish Quarter. There is a lot of old history there, and there are plaques to that remind us of the arrests that took place here during the Holocaust.

Beautiful neighborhood, unfortunately it's in the process of gentrification. A lot of new, expensive shops are opening here, and I am not sure I like it. But it is what it is, and here is a picture of one of the older apartments with a basement. I love the tile floor.

In Front of the Courthouse, Downtown San Jose, CA

Here are the palm trees lining the front of the Lightrail stop in front of the courthouse, which happens to be a two minute walk from my house.

These palm trees aren't in the best of shape, but I think people can donate to save them. There were little plaques on each tree, I am assuming a donor.

If I remember correctly, although we have a lot of palm trees here and in places like Los Angeles, they are not native to California. They need extra care. I watched on the Discovery Channel, a program that mentioned that if humans were to vanish from the earth, these trees would eventually die out here in CA, as there would be no one to care for them.

Mendocino, June 2010

Hello All,

Above is a shot of what looks like a pond (but really part of a river) at Van Dam State Park under a minibridge on Highway 1.  In fact, This is the same place of my last posting below. It's just that the picture I shot below was taken during the middle of Fall and this one was taken the week before Summer. A lot of green. There is the ocean to the left (not in the picture) and then there is a stream leading to this river which runs from this beach all the way to approximately Cloverdale if I am not mistaken.

When I started this blog, I really thought that I would mainly post pictures from the city in which I live, San Jose. Instead, I've been posting pictures mainly from San Francisco and Mendocino as well as other cities here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I apologize to those of you who subscribed to see San Jose. Unfortunately, I can't say that I will stop anytime soon and stick to San Jose photos. It's just that I post pictures that move me, and lately it's been out of San Jose.

However, I can say that I took a lot of pictures of my neighborhood area yesterday, so I will post those soon.

Sunday Bridge Series

Hello All,

I had to dig in my archives, but here is a shot of the Brooklyn Bridge during my stay in NYC in September of 2009. This was taken in the morning on our way to Ellis Island.

Stag's Leap Winery, Napa

Home to winners of a taste testing contest between the California wine sold here vs. French wine. The wine sold here won hands down on at least 3 separate occasions.

The Artemis 2006 collection is unbelievable smooth.

Driving on Highway 128

Hello All,

Sorry it's been such a long time since I've been on this blog. I really thought that my camera was broken. It turns out that the display screen was turned off and that I just needed to turn it back on.

I was in Mendocino over the weekend for Father's Day, and this was one of the pics I took on the way home. I just held the camera up and clicked.

Time to go and catch up on your pictures !

Downtown San Jose

Hello All,

My appologies for not posting in a while. For one, I've just been really busy. Second, my camera has been shutting off. The screen goes blank for some reason when I try to snap a picture.

Please forgive the picture I posted above. I took it, while not being able to see anything on the screen.

So basically, this is a view of San Jose from one of the streets close to where I live. In the picture you can see the new buildings next to the old. Downtown San Jose is full of new building as well as holding on to the old, historical ones. This is why I enjoy living here.

So behind the lightrail tracks to the left are law offices. To the right is a German bar in an older building. Behind that bar are newer condos.

Enjoy and in the meantime, I will try to work on fixing the problem with my camera.

May Theme- Statues

Hello All,

Sorry for my absence. I recently got a new job, and since then it's been difficult to find time to post new pictures. Especially since I need to take new ones of San Jose.

I promise, I will find the time soon to snap a couple of pictures of my city, especially since the weather has been a lot nicer lately.

Until then, here is a picture I took last September of the Statue of Liberty as we were sailing off to Ellis Island. It was cloudy, but it was still a great ride and I was happy to get a glimpse of Lady Liberty.

Winchester Mystery House

Well, I am a San Jose Senorita, so here is a picture taken here in San Jose.

This is the Winchester Mystery House. Basically Sarah Winchester was a crazy old woman. Her husband made guns, the Winchester rifle. Her spiritual adviser told her that her house was haunted by people killed by her husband's rifle.

In order to appease those spirits, she would have to continue building the mansion for them. Therefore, the construction proceeded around-the-clock, without interruption, from 1884 until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased. The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million, about $70 Million today, ( Information from Wikipedia)

Bridge Meme, Week 2

Again, I dug into my archives. This picture was taken during the summer of 2004 in San Sebastian, Spain. I lived in Barcelona at the time, but took a busride to San Sebastian for a couple of days.

April Theme Of The Month: Red

Hello,

I have been a very busy Senorita lately, and I haven't had a lot of time to take new photos, so I cheated and dug into the archives.

This photo was from my time in Austria when my grandmother was still alive back in the summer of 2005. She took us to the Alps in Austria and we stayed in a hut on the alps. She was a member of a club where she and the rest of her mountain climbing crew cooked food and provided a place to sleep for the hikers. They paid a small fee and my grandma and great aunts cooked for them and they could sleep upstairs.

This picture was one of the many I took up there.

Montalvo Arts Center, Saratoga, CA

The Montalvo Arts Center is in Saratoga, CA. It was built in 1912 and used to be the home of James Phelan, who used to be the senator of California.

In addition to the lovely villa, there is also a beautiful garden, hiking trail, and concert hall. It is a beautiful place to have a wedding or other celebration.
